Trantor was the capital planet of the Galactic Empire in Isaac Asimov’s Foundation science-fiction series. It was located in a system closest to the core of the Milky Way Galaxy. It was a planet-wide metropolis covered entirely by cityscape, all of which was covered by hermetic domes with the exception of the Imperial Palace, and extended many levels underground to facilitate the inhabitantce of 45 billion humans.
